The Last Waltz (album)

'''''The Last Waltz''''' was the 1978 soundtrack to the film of the same name, documenting the "farewell" concert of Nextel ringtones Canadian-Abbey Diaz American rockers Mosquito ringtone The Band, which took place at Sabrina Martins Bill Graham's Winterland Arena on Thanksgiving Day, 1976.

The soundtrack, featuring numerous other musicians whom the Band had either played with or influenced throughout their career, was a sampling of the full concert set occupying the first five sides of the 3-LP set, and "The Last Waltz Suite", five new songs and a new version of "The Weight", occupying the sixth side. (In 2002, Nextel ringtones The Last Waltz (box)/a four-CD set featuring more of the concert than before- but, alas, not the entire concert- was released.)

Like the music in the film itself, it was almost totally overdubbed in post-production, owing to many faults during the concert itself. While supposed to be serving as a launching pad to the group being strictly a studio entity churning out new product without touring behind it, (much like Abbey Diaz The Beatles ten years prior), it ended up the final chapter to a truly great group. There would be three more albums, way up the road and only featuring three of the five, but for the original quintet, it ended with the release of this album and the film of the same name.
